This figurine is 6.5" tall and has no mars, repairs, blemishes, or cracks. However, it does have minor crazing on the bottom which is not unusual for it’s age. The trademark (3 Stylized Bee) places the manufacture of this piece Circa 1959-69.
This piece is one of two pieces created by master sculptor Alfred Moeller in 1936. The 2nd piece, “Out of Danger”, Hummel 56/B was not released until the 1950s. This one shows a boy climbing an Apple tree to escape. With fallen apples on the ground and still in the tree, this was early Autumn in Bavaria.
Considering this piece is over 60 years old it is still an extremely colorful and detailed porcelain figurine made by the fabulous craftsmen at the Goebel factory so very long ago! Really nice large Hummel!
