Personal collection release! Fully natural, very rare, old stock collection specimen of gem Cobaltoan Smithsonite from the famous Tsumeb Mine in Namibia. The raw smithsonite var. cobalto features a gemmy and lustrous cluster of silver peach pink botryoidal crystals of smithsonite. They form perfect rosette flower shapes in a sculptural display with areas of rainbow iridescence in the light. The unique coloring is due to the presence of cobalt and hematite during the crystal development. The smithsonite crystals are glassy with intricate defined etchings. A quartz matrix is accented with green malachite crystals, adding pretty contrast to the high quality specimen. The smithsonite is also UV fluorescent with a soft glow. An aesthetic, collectible Namibian display specimen that measures approx 4 by 3.5 by 2.8 cm and comes mounted on a 3cm square acrylic stand. Includes the vintage collection mineral ID / locale info card.
